What is Restylane® Defyne?
Restylane® Defyne is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that helps to soften deep laugh lines, such as nasolabial folds, and can be used to define the shape of the chin. Restylane® Defyne can correct mild-to-moderate chin retrusion, with 98% of patients having improved double-chin appearance after treatment.
How long does Restylane® Defyne last?
Restylane® Defyne has been shown to maintain in effect for up to 12 months.
What are the side effects of Restylane® Defyne?
In the study of Restylane® Defyne for correction of wrinkles and folds that form around your nose and extend down to the corners of your mouth (laugh lines), most patients reported the following side effects at the site where they received the injection: swelling, lumps/bump formation, redness, pain/tenderness, bruising, itching.
Most patients said their side effects were mild, short-lived, and did not require them to call their doctor.

Are there any reasons why I should not receive this filler?
Do not use these products if you have a history of multiple severe allergies or severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), or if you are allergic to lidocaine or Gram-positive bacterial proteins used in these products.
What precautions should my doctor advise me about?
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The safety of these products during pregnancy or while breastfeeding has not been studied.
- Tell your doctor if you have a history of excessive scarring or pigmentation disorders.
- Tell your doctor if you are planning other laser treatments or a chemical peel, as there is a possible risk of inflammation at the treatment site if these procedures are performed after treatment.
- Minimize strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun or heat, and alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours following treatment.
