How Does It Work?

Tattoo pigment sits deep within the skin. During treatment, laser energy is directed at the pigment, causing the ink particles to fragment into smaller pieces. Over the weeks following treatment, your body gradually clears those particles.

Because tattoo ink is placed in layers, multiple treatment sessions are typically necessary to achieve the best possible fading.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients should plan on a series of treatments rather than a single session. We generally recommend approximately 8–10 treatments, although every tattoo is different.

The number of sessions needed depends on several factors, including:

• Tattoo size

• Ink color

• Amount and density of pigment

• Depth of the tattoo

• Whether the tattoo was professionally or amateur applied

• Age of the tattoo

• How your individual body responds to treatment

Treatments are typically spaced at least eight weeks apart to allow your body time to process the fragmented pigment and your skin time to recover.

Laser Tattoo Removal begins at $250 per treatment for tattoos up to approximately the size of a business card.

What to Expect

Tattoo removal is a gradual process. Some fading may become noticeable after the first few treatments, but more significant improvement develops over the course of your treatment series.

Complete removal cannot be guaranteed, and some tattoos respond more readily than others depending on the type, color, and depth of the ink.
